Scotchman Peaks Plein Air

I've always loved the little glimpses you get of the lake looking through the trees.
Couldn't resist this group of cedars next to the creek

en Plein Air (official trailer)

en Plein Air (official trailer) from Wildman Pictures on Vimeo.

Filmed in the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness, the documentary, 'en Plein Air', captures the experiences of artists during a 5 day trek through the mountains.

Plein Air art is known as landscape paintings that are physically created 'in the open air' rather than painted indoors based on a sketch or photo. This film delves into the personal interpretations of the Plein Air concept by water-color painters, an author and us as the creators of this documentary.

Complete film to be released Fall 2010.

Music:
'No Intention'
Dirty Projectors

This is a non-profit film and company created to educate.

On the Palouse

I've enjoyed the nice diffused light we have had lately. It spreads a nice soft light over everything.

Fall

This little guy is behind the Grad studio and I couldn't resist its color.
These trees are across from the studio and have already lost their leaves completely.  I find it interesting how some trees loose their leaves so much sooner than others.

Dixie Dog 9"x12" oil on panel

A fellow artist Greg Caudell had his great dog with him.  She was a great little puppy that I had to paint.  She didn't hold to still but I think I captured her.

Scotchman peak show

Tree Bottom 8"x10" Sold
Fall Meadow  8"x10"

Fall Aspens  11"x14"

I had the chance to paint at the Scotchman peaks wilderness plein-air show.  It was a lot of fun to paint with the other artists and meet some new people.  I'll post the other paintings I did when I get better photos of them.

OPA plein-air event

I couldn't pass up these shoe thrown up into the powerlines of this alley.  I was told it was done by a disgruntled employee and the local shoe store.
I enjoyed painting the parts of a boat that you don't usually see.

Shadows and trees

A different view of the river for me, but an interesting one.  The positive and negative shapes lured me in.

A little shot of blue sky.

Took advantage of a  semi-nice day and painted between the rain/snow.  I was enticed by the flow of the river and the little shot of blue sky reflecting in the water.
